What the Critics Say

“…arched windows bejeweled with multicolored liquor bottles shine like stained glass behind the marble bar inside this Center City newcomer. Despite fancy touches like dry ice or frozen hibiscus flowers, the huge cocktails are not at all expensive, and the wine list is large enough to make your head spin.”
- Zagat (Philadelphia), 2013

“When someone sees one, [berries & bubbles cocktail] they order one. It’s a great tasting cocktail…it’s also a visual experience.”
- Nation’s Restaurant News - August 3, 2012

"Whether inside with the piano bar or outside on the patio, there is no better way to enjoy an elegant night out on the town than to start with the hand-crafted Cucumber Gimlet ans Ahi Tuna Tartar Appetizer. Choose a prime steak or seafood, but be sure to save room for the delicious peanut butter pie."
-Best of Metro, Tampa Bay Metro

“#17: Ocean Motion. Atlanta has been the next stop on the list for quite a few national culinary treasures (we tend to shy from the term 'chain'), and Ocean Prime’s landing on Piedmont Road was one of the best openings in town last year. This ain’t a nautical-themed seafood join – menu favorites, like the Chilean sea bass in champagne truffle sauce, are inspirations; the snazzy bar and private patio offer an upscale, low-key vibe; and classic desserts, like Baked Alaska, can be shared – but if you want it all for yourself, we won’t tell.”
-Jezebel, 2012

"Longing for the elegance and luxury of a classic supper club from long-ago with modern updates of the present? Then Ocean Prime, located at River Crossing, is the place for you. When it comes to food, there is something for everyone. As divine as the appetizers and entrees are, the desserts are a must for those with a sweet tooth."
-Diane Moore
 Moore Writes, 2012

"This patio is leading the way among luxury restaurants in the area. Founder Cameron Mitchell, General Manager Greg Sage, and the entire team didn't miss a single detail. Executive Chef Shawn O'Brien has done a marvelous job perfecting the dishes...It seems that Ocean Prime is 'Indy's Extraordinaire Restaurant.'"
-Theodore Simpson, 2012

"Bubbling specialty drinks, top-of-the-catch fresh seafood and superb steaks sum up the menu. The luminous underwater vibe and white-tablecloth service dial up the romance factor."
-Jezebel, Best of 2012

"Reminiscent of glitzy holiday baubles, Ocean Prime's signature cocktail glows a festive, sparkling red, thanks to a fusion of Belvedere citrus vodka, Domaine Chandon brut and house-made sour studded with marinated berries. The piece de resistance is a spoonful of dry ice, which instantly chills the liquid, frosts the stem of the glass and casts an intoxicating smoke as you sip."
-Jezebel, December 2011

"Priding itself on bringing guests an extensive wine list, inventive cocktails (some served with dry ice for a bubbling, smoky effect), and the top-notch fare, Ocean Prime’s extensive menu is sure to have something for everyone; from the succulent crab cake with sweet corn cream to the 16oz. Kansas City Strip broiled to perfection, menu list will make any fine diner satisfied to the highest degree."
-J'Adore Magazine, December 2011

"Ocean Prime came to town with its "A" game and has instantly catapulted into primetime in a very competitive Buckhead corridor."
-Atlanta Social Season, Winter 2011

"We loved OP's take on tuna tartar, with crunchy wontons, avocado and a ginger ponzu sauce. Don't miss Chilean sea bass with Champagne truffle sauce, and save room for seven-layer chocolate cake for dessert."
-The Atlantan, November 2011

"Ocean Prime recently made its Buckhead debut, serving up fine steaks and fresh seafood in made-from-scratch dishes that showcase pure, regional flavors. Handcrafted cocktails and an indulgent dessert menu round out the restaurant's delectable draw."
-Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles, November 2011

"Atlanta is finally getting its very own Ocean Prime. For the uninitiated, OP has been nationally praised for years for its supper club vibe, great steaks, fresh seafood and primo drinks. Now, it's coming to Buckhead. Doors open in October."
-Men's Book Atlanta, October 2011

"Millennial supper club with dazzling bling in décor and drinks. More glitz in ginger salmon, Kobe burgers and truffle deviled eggs."
-Golden Brand, Florida Trend's Golden Spoon Awards, 2012

"With six locations in five states, the upscale chain Ocean Prime deserves at least a sliver of the credit for the mainstreaming of the Prohibition-era cocktail, with its Cucumber Gimlets, Whiskey Clovers and Strawberry Smashes. But its signature show-stopper is still one of its silliest drinks: The Berries & Bubbles. Chunks of dry ice are added to a rich purple mix of citrus vodka, Champagne, marinated berries and house-made sour mix, and the end result is a raucously bubbling brew that's guaranteed to turn heads around the bar. The fruit flavor is intense, the bubbles add texture and the dry ice gives it a strangely intoxicating aroma (and creates ice on the stem). It's pulpy, it's preposterous ... and somehow, it makes perfect sense.", 2011

"What better way to enjoy an elegant night out on the town than with prime steak or seafood and live music.  The piano bar sets the mood for any occasion."
-Tampa Bay Metro, 2011

"Handcrafted by what Ocean Prime affectionately touts as 'Bar Chefs', we realize they mean business. Now for this drink alone, Ocean Prime is definitely worth a visit. Of course, this was only the beginning.", 2011

"My favorite, however, is Ocean Prime’s white truffle caviar version. The appetizer arrives on an oversize platter with three hard-boiled eggs, which have been halved and stuffed with a generous mound of smooth yolk. The filling is then topped with a slivered round of black truffle and a dollop of briny black caviar."
-Shari Caudron - 5280, April 2011

"Ocean Prime gives us the best of both land and sea. But in addition to stellar seafood the space itself is STUNNING. Soaring ceilings, soft curves, tactile textures and artistic lighting make this a feast for the eyes as much as the stomach; but don't be jealous, stomach – crab-crusted blue tilapia and Chilean sea bass in a champagne truffle sauce are just a taste of what's in store for you."
-Real Detroit Weekly, 2011

"Best Seafood: Of the area's many seafood restaurants, the best around is Ocean Prime which combines a lively Sinatra-inspired supper club atmosphere with a menu filled with fresh ocean fare and service that is simply unsurpassed."
-Frommer's, 2010

"The place is very handsomely designed, with a retro supper-club feel that comes from lots of rich wood, plush white linen tablecloths, [and] unobtrusive live music [...] The servers, in crisp, snug white jackets, are smooth and knowledgeable. And the staff knows how to keep guests satisfied.

There's also an "aha!" moment. The gorgeously moist Chilean sea bass in champagne truffle sauce is fancy-restaurant scintillating, the flavors beautifully harmonized. It's only April, but I have to believe this will end up on my Top 10 dish list for 2009.", Howard Seftel

"The service at Ocean Prime is second to none and by the time the meal is over, the server has become a trusted friend."
-Tampa Bay Metro, February/March 2011

"Steak or Seafood? At Ocean Prime, you can have either…or both! Whatever dish you choose, pair it with world-class wines and award-winning, handcrafted cocktails in in a timeless setting with take-your-breath-away service. It’s an extraordinary supper club experience."
-D Magazine

"From their compelling menu, to imaginative cocktails, a superb wine list, and impeccable service, Ocean Prime is the perfect place to celebrate and entertain with friends."

"Spud lovers can pick from nine different potato side dishes, including creamy whipped potatoes, parmesan truffle french fries and jalapeno au gratin with Swiss cheese.  (Plus!  Baked, twice-baked, roasted garlic mashed, sweet potato fries, candied yams and latkes.)  It's tempting to forgo the entrée altogether!"
-ALIVE, January 2011

“Service was positively gushing and enthusiastic. Several dishes were outstanding. Ocean Prime’s signature appetizer, giant sautéed shrimp served with a piquant and ingratiating Tabasco cream sauce, is a dish for the ages.”
-Modern Luxury Dallas, 2010

“Ocean Prime takes deviled eggs in a surf-and-turf direction. The steak and seafood restaurant's Truffled Deviled Eggs get an earthy note from white truffle oil. They're topped off with both shaved black truffle and American hackleback caviar; even without the elegant garnishes, this egg is an exotic break from the ordinary.”
-Tina Danze
 Dallas Morning News, 2010

“With details such as bar shelves that are backlit for drama and bold jazz music playing in the dining room, Ocean Prime clearly is in the hands of people who know how to set a classy mood."

Salt n Pepper Tuna is one of the best tuna dishes I’ve had. Two large chunks of fish (they were practically the size of Rubik’s Cubes) were seared on the outside, very rare within.

Ocean Prime is a destination restaurant that should be taken seriously. With its eager service, it’s a good bet for business dinners, and its warm amber lighting will appeal to couples seeking a romantic evening escape.”
-Orlando Magazine, 2009

“This swanky eatery will take you back to the glamour of the Supper Club era and has become the place to see and be seen. Live piano music, fresh seafood and handcrafted cocktails set the electric vibe that makes this trendy oasis a delight for foodies. Enjoy the sinful white truffle caviar deviled eggs or the ginger salmon with stir fried snap peas and soy butter sauce in the main dining room or al fresco in the spacious outdoor terrace.”
-Social Affair’s Gourmet Guide to South Florida’s Top Restaurants, 2009

“Looking for primo surf and turf?  Ocean Prime has it covered.  The Modern Supper Club - Go for the ahi tuna tartar with avocado and ginger ponzu—stay for the terrace with its two roaring fireplaces.”

"****.  Our meal was nothing less than outstanding.  Every single morsel of food that we bit into was perfection.  Everything is served hot and nothing was over-seasoned or too fussy."
-The Oakland Press, 2008

“It’s a gorgeous restaurant, worth a visit for the ambience alone. It has a bar that’s one of the most stunning around: beautiful, elegant and hip.”
-Christopher Cook
 Hour Detroit, 2008

"My Whiskey Clover was amazing, the perfect amount of fruit juice and liquor… Texas "Surf n' Turf" - Diver Scallops, Slow Braised Short Ribs over a bed of mashed potatoes.  The scallops were seared perfectly and the inside was tender and moist.  I LOVE scallops.  The addition of braised short ribs was a nice touch to this dish.  I am not going to lie before we ordered these flavors did not seem like they would go together but they did in a fantastic way."
-Blog:  Anthony’s Food and Cocktail Adventures

"Ocean Prime's name says it all. This kitchen's focus is on high-end surf 'n' turf. Without exception, we found the seafood and steaks to be elegant but accessible, expertly prepared without all the unnecessary fussiness that can sometimes make fine dining feel pretentious."
-Blog:  Tampa Bay Tribune,  Rommie Johnson

"****. A well-run operation delivers on its promises of upscale fish and meat."
-The Columbus Dispatch, 2010
