James Newell

James Newell learned how to cook at age 13 in his hometown of Tampa, FL and quickly found his passion for the culinary arts and entered the restaurant and hospitality industry when he was 15. Almost 20 years later, James has lived in nine different states, over 15 major cities, and has gained many stories along the way. He received his degree from The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York.

After working at restaurants all over the country, ranging from St. Petersburg to New York City, James joined the Cameron Mitchell Restaurant family at Ocean Prime in 2015. Outside of the kitchen, James enjoys traveling, golfing, and relaxing on the beach while spending time with his fiancée.

Of the many lessons James has learned on his culinary journey, he urges people with passion to follow their dream, travel around as much a possible, and to take chances all while having fun.

Alex Schultz

With a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management from The Ohio State University (OSU), Alex Schultz is no stranger to the restaurant industry. It was during his years at OSU that Alex was first introduced to Cameron Mitchell Restaurants, working in the kitchen at Mitchell’s Ocean Club for more than a year. Alex also held various positions at casual and fine dining restaurants, ranging from front of house supervisor to general manager, which further honed his hospitality expertise.

Schultz made his return to Cameron Mitchell Restaurants as dining room manager at Cap City in Gahanna, OH. Between 2008 and 2016, Alex went on to hold management positions at Molly Woo’s, Mitchell’s Ocean Club and Ocean Prime Indianapolis - never leaving the Cameron Mitchell family.

Alex can’t wait to bring his experience in delivering genuine hospitality to Ocean Prime and create raving fans in the nation’s capital.

Ebony Alston

A Washington D.C. native, Ebony Alston had her first job in the restaurant industry at 16. It did not take long before she found her passion for providing care for others through hospitality. Ebony enjoys helping and meeting new people, something she can do daily in the hospitality industry. Ebony received her degree in Fashion Merchandising at the University of District of Columbia and started with Ocean Prime in 2020.

Ebony’s favorite part of working for Cameron Mitchell Restaurants is the culture and what it represents. The greatest lesson she has learned in her professional career is that nothing is perfect but spending everyday pushing the standard is how people truly hone their craft of treating others with genuine hospitality. Ebony believes hospitality comes from the heart, and the best advice she can give to those interested in pursuing a career in restaurants and hospitality is to go the extra mile every time.
