Ocean Prime to Open at Nashville Yards

NASHVILLE, TN – Southwest Value Partners and AEG, joint venture partners and co-developers of the Nashville Yards’ creative office and music venue, today announced an agreement with Cameron Mitchell Restaurants to open a new location of Ocean Prime, the nationally acclaimed seafood and steak restaurant, at Nashville Yards. Ocean Prime Nashville Yards is expected to open in summer 2025. It will be the first Cameron Mitchell Restaurants’ location in Tennessee, and 21st Ocean Prime location.

Ocean Prime will be located at one of Nashville Yards’ key arrival points, on the corner of Church Street and Platform South at the base of the mixed-use development’s distinctive, creative office building. Plans for the more than 10,000 square-foot restaurant include over 370 seats and two large, covered patios spanning 2,400 square feet. Ocean Prime Nashville Yards will feature two private dining spaces designed to accommodate a variety of groups and events, from intimate gatherings of 8-12 to larger celebrations with 35-45 guests.

Ocean Prime Coming To 46 Penn Centre On The Plaza in Kansas City

Modern seafood and steak concept forms a partnership between Block Real Estate Services and Cameron Mitchell Restaurants

Kansas City, Mo. January 6, 2021 – 46 Penn Centre, the new 14-story, high image corporate office building on the Country Club Plaza, announced today that it has reeled in acclaimed restaurant Ocean Prime.

Named Ocean Prime Restaurant + Prime Social Rooftop, the new concept includes not only the restaurant, but a new extension to the brand with a rooftop lounge, the first in the Ocean Prime family. The restaurant will feature artfully designed interiors with a la carte seating, private dining and bar, while Prime Social will welcome guests to the building’s enclosed rooftop, which also has outdoor seating and a fire pit.

Kansas City is the newest location for Ocean Prime, from award-winning Cameron Mitchell Restaurants (CMR). It will also become the first location in Missouri, in a management-investment partnership between the restaurant group and investors associated with Block Real Estate Services principals.

Construction will begin in the next 60 days and Ocean Prime Restaurant + Prime Social Rooftop are slated to open in fall 2021. This will be the 17th Ocean Prime restaurant since the 2008 launch of the concept in Columbus, Ohio. There are currently 16 locations coast-to-coast, across 12 states and the District of Columbia.

Members of Ocean Prime management team commissioned local Kansas City artists to create one-of-a-kind works of art to complement the warm and modern décor.  The centerpiece sculpture, called ‘KC Realized’, is by Kansas City native, Jake Proffit. It offers a visual depiction of Kansas City’s geological evolution.

Renowned Restaurant Company Makes Changes to Executive Team in the New Year

COLUMBUS, Ohio (January 13, 2020) – Cameron Mitchell Restaurants (CMR) is kicking off the new year with some fresh faces on the leadership team. The Columbus-based restaurant company is pleased to announce that Melissa Johnson, Katie Laudick, Mitch Miller and Jim Sauter have been promoted to executive positions, effective January 1, 2020.

“Cameron and I are extremely proud to have these talented individuals join the executive team as they are shining examples of our company’s genuine hospitality and associate-first culture,” said David Miller, president and chief operating officer for CMR. “I look forward to their contributions as we continue to grow and push the envelope of restaurant innovation.”

Melissa Johnson
Melissa Johnson is now vice president of Cameron Mitchell Premier Events and Community Relations for CMR. She oversees the company’s catering division and consistently looks for growth opportunities. She also represents the company in the community by discovering ways to get involved and give back. Johnson, a 22-year CMR veteran who helped launch the catering company in 2001, has helped shape it into the foremost catering and special events business in central Ohio. 

Katie Laudick
Katie Laudick has been named vice president of human resources at CMR, focusing on adding new talent to the company’s associate-first culture as well as lifting up current associates to succeed. After joining the CMR family as a server, Laudick accepted a human resources internship at the home office in 2001. She has since held various roles in human resources including, most recently, senior director, and has helped shape the team into what it is today through her dedication and focus on self-development.  Laudick will oversee all human resources practices for the nearly 5,000 associates of CMR and its sister company, Rusty Bucket Restaurant & Tavern. 

Mitch Miller
As the vice president of Ocean Prime, Mitch Miller oversees 16 locations across the country. Miller provides strategic direction for the brand and leads a team of managers, directors and corporate and regional chefs who handle the daily restaurant operations. Miller has held numerous managerial positions within CMR including serving as the dining room manager at Martini Modern Italian, and general manager of Cap City in Gahanna, Mitchell’s Ocean Club and Molly Woo’s. Miller was then promoted to regional director and later, director of operations for Ocean Prime before moving into his current role. Miller is praised by his fellow associates for his strong leadership, especially during restaurant openings.

Jim Sauter
Jim Sauter has been named vice president of the Rusty Bucket Restaurant and Tavern. Working closely with President and Founder Gary Callicoat, Sauter provides strategic direction for the brand and leads a team of managers and directors who oversee all restaurant operations. Sauter first joined the CMR team in 2004 and held numerous positions including a pantry and grill cook at Cap City in Grandview, general manager at Cap City in Gahanna and assistant general manager for Mitchell’s Ocean Club. He transitioned to working for Rusty Bucket in 2007 and has been an integral part of the growth of Rusty Bucket into a nationally-recognized brand.

As part of the executive changes, Diane Smullen (Finance) and Chuck Davis (Human Resources) will transition off of the leadership team and assume new advisory roles within the company. Ocean Prime Introduces Custom Woodford Reserve Bourbon Blends

WHAT
Earlier this year, associates at 15 Ocean Prime locations participated in bourbon blending workshops with a representative from Woodford Reserve, creating one-of-a-kind selections to be served in-house. Woodford Reserve sent each participating Ocean Prime restaurant three single barrel samples of Woodford Reserve, which were then blended at the associates’ discretion into three two-barrel batch blends (the smallest small-batch of bourbon possible). From those blends, they then selected their favorite batch blend of Woodford Reserve, which is now only available at that particular Ocean Prime.

Woodford Reserve filled 15 barrels with their custom creations and aged them over several months. All of the barrels will share the same complex, well-rounded flavor associated with Woodford Reserve but each will be slightly distinct.

“We offer a unique experience at every Ocean Prime and our beverage program is no exception,” says Andrea Hoover, Beverage Director. “Each blend represents an expression of the local taste and is not available anywhere else.”

Ocean Prime is the first restaurant to participate in an offsite bourbon blending program with Woodford Reserve, and the associates are excited to showcase their custom creations to guests.  Pours can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or in a signature OP Manhattan. Creating the perfect chill and melted water ratio in the OP Manhattan is a large format ice cube branded with the Ocean Prime logo.
